MVP, Rookie of the Year, All-NBA, All-Star rankings

November 13, 2017. ...It is too early to draw concrete conclusions but we can, for entertainment, take an early look at who is on pace to achieve some of the NBA honors that are always coveted. To do this, we use a very simple formula that multiplies the number of minutes played by the player's EFR (HoopObsession.com's per-minute efficiency rating).

Let's start with MVP. The current standings are:

  1. LeBron James 435
  2. DeMarcus Cousins 434
  3. Giannis Antetokounmpo 433
  4. James Harden 416
  5. Anthony Davis 409

Rookie of the Year...

  1. Ben Simmons 280
  2. Jayson Tatum 215
  3. Kyle Kuzma 209
  4. Lonzo Ball 189
  5. Lauri Markkanen 181

All NBA: (highest ranked player at each position)

First Team: Stephen Curry 350, James Harden 416, Giannis Antetokounmpo 433, LeBron James 435, DeMarcus Cousins 434.

Second Team: Russell Westbrook 300, Victor Oladipo 278, Kevin Durant 346, Anthony Davis 409, Nikola Jokic 357.

Third Team: Damian Lillard 291, Devin Booker 272, Ben Simmons 280, LaMarcus Aldridge 306, Andre Drummond 341

All-Star Teams

East: Ben Simmons 280, Victor Oladipo 278, Giannis Antetokounmpo 433, LeBron James 435, Andre Drummond 341, Kemba Walker 250, Bradley Beal 255, Kristaps Porzingis 302, Kevin Love 294, Al Horford 269, Evan Fournier 254.

Analysis: Kyrie Irving, John Wall, and Joel Embiid will be All-Stars, so feel free to take away three of those above on the East team. Irving missed a couple games which cut into his overall production. Others in the East to keep an eye on: DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, Otto Porter, Hassan Whiteside and Tobias Harris.

West: Stephen Curry 350, James Harden 416, Kevin Durant 346, Anthony Davis 409, DeMarcus Cousins 434, Russell Westbrook 300, Devin Booker 272, Paul George 273, Nikola Jokic 357, Clint Capela 334, Karl Anthony Towns 312, Damian Lillard 291.

Much has been written and said about how tough it will be to crack the West All-Stars lineup. Consider these names who are presently on the outside looking in on our scale: Blake Griffin, Rudy Gobert, Draymond Green, DeAndre Jordan, Marc Gasol, Klay Thompson, Paul Millsap, and Carmelo Anthony.
